loud alarm clock

I think it took about five mornings of running late after sleeping through the music playing on the clock radio, that I made a command decision. If we were ever to make it to all the places we had to go each morning on time, we needed a loud alarm clock.

I wasnt really sure where to go to purchase a loud alarm clock, but I figured the local has everything mega superstore should have a loud alarm clock that would do. With a preschooler and an infant in tow, I headed down town, set on purchasing a loud alarm clock that would wake the dead.

When I got to the store I realized that all the clocks were tightly packaged, so their was no way to know if the clock I was purchasing was a loud alarm clock. I asked the clerk if she had any tester clocks and she looked at me like I was nuts. In my defense, I still think it is a good idea. I mean they have perfume testers why not have a loud alarm clock tester?

She couldnt tell me which packages contained a loud alarm clock but she assured me that if the clock I purchased wasnt loud enough I could always bring it back. I think that she figured no one would be that dedicated to finding a loud alarm clock, but she doesnt know me!

I picked out a clock that had a really big speaker. I figured that this had to be a really loud alarm clock. Ha! We managed to sleep right through its dulcet tones. The next day I headed back to the store to trade if for a truly loud alarm clock. The clerk was a bit surprised to see me, but she kindly recommended a cow clock that promised to moo us awake each morning. I figured that might be annoying enough to get us out of bed, but I was raised on a farm, so I found the sound rather soothing. We didnt wake up until we heard the school bus at our driveway honking.

Back I went the next day. All told, we went through eight alarm clocks before we settled on an alarm clock that actually was loud enough to wake us up. I know that the clerk thought I was crazy, but every trip into town was worth it when the annoying scream of that loud alarm clock forced both my husband and I to sit straight up in bed. Our ears were still ringing when we crawled out from under the covers. For three mornings we woke up on time. Then the electricity went out and our loud alarm clock wasnt able to do its job. Now we are looking for a loud alarm clock that is battery powered.
